There was a time when a tune-up was pretty well defined from car to car.
Times have changed. A tuneup for some cars is nothing more than changing spark-plugs, fuel filter and air filter, and perhaps an oil change if the oil is due.
Other cars require all of the above and much more as well. It could need additional cap, rotor, wires (all ignition components) as well as adjustments (valves, fuel delivery rates, carburetor adjustments, ignition timing,) replacement of PCV valve, to mention a few other requirements.
As for locating the source of carbon monoxide, it isn't normally a part of a tune-up procedure, but if there is the danger that your engine is emitting this hazardous toxin anywhere other than the end of the tail pipe, be certain to ask that the tech or mechanic inspect for any source that could be a danger to any of the vehicle's occupants.

a tune-up now days consists of changing the spark plugs thats it , thats all the technician gets paid for they dont get paid by the hour. you need to be a little more specific about the leaking carbon monoxide , like an exaust leak??? sounds like you need and engine diagnostic or inspection you have to pay for this also.
