What do you all think about a girl playing baseball. Boys baseball. If the girl has been playing boys baseball for 12 years and she is 15, never played softball, do you think she should be allowed to play highschool baseball?
Yes. I am talking about me. Duhh..
Seriously, I have gone through so much crap to get this far. I have dreams.

I just need opinions. I have heard many, but what do you think about the situation I have just stated.
Be as mean or as nice as you'd like.

Honestly, i wouldnt mind seeing a woman play professional baseball. I can see a girl on the field for a change, hey you could even play with the yakees you would fit right in with those girls lol. But seriously if your serious about this go for it....and if you make it big one day remember me lol.....HOPE THIS HELPED but the only one who could make the definite decision is you.

When i played high school baseball, our school didnt offer a softball team so any giril wishing to play baseball was allowed to, the problem with that was that the head coach was a 70 year old man who said "It would be a cold day in hell" before a girl ever played on one of his teams, needless to say none of the females at my school went out for the team. Personally i thought it was a shame that someone could feel that way if the opportunities arent equal for both genders. But as far as youre concerned, if you have the talent and the will to compete on an equal playing field with your male counterparts, i believe that you have every right to participate. Good Luck.

Definitely go out for the boys team if you feel you are just as good as they are! You could always talk to the softball coach as a backup plan. We had a girl that played baseball with us up until high school that was pretty good. She had good contact hitting skills and was a great fielder, but she was scared of what people would think if she played baseball. So, from one Yahoo!er to another... Go for it!! and GOOD LUCK!

If you can play, you can play. Period. It will sure be tough as a girl but do your talking with your bat and glove.

Genetically girls are at a disadvantage since males are *usually* stronger in the shoulders and upper body and that's huge in baseball. But there are always exceptions. And leg strength (where women often have the advantage) is very important as well.

Prove to the guys on the team that you'll dive for groundballs and break up the double play and you should win the respect of the people who matter.

Wow, I really admire you for trying to play high school baseball. I definitely think girls should be able to play. If you think you're good enough, then go for it.

Have you ever heard of Crystal Bustos? She's a softball player on the American Olympic team. She was so good at playing baseball that the baseball coach at her high school (or college, I don't remember which one) wanted her to play for him.

Talk to the coach and see what he thinks about it.
Good Luck!

Absolutely, My daughter ran into this same problem. Her school would not let her play baseball. She ended up playing competitive fast pitch softball outside her school. I will say the boys at her school supported her. They wanted her on the team also. Good luck

Well, as for myself (having three sisters, one of which was great at Baseball) I think it's time for the Majors to let you ladies play as long as you can make the team. But I can see some drawbacks (lockerroom, rough language, or just imagine a lady being tagged out "you-know-where!)

I`m a father who hoped my daughters could become baseball players instead of softball players. It was my dream not their`s. Anyways, I always wondered what would happen if they kept proving themselves at different levels.
If you`ve been playing baseball and proving yourself every season then you should be given a chance.
I was teaching one of my daughters to pitch, hoping that would be the easiest way to prove herself on the field.
I can`t wait to one day see the first female major leaguer!!!!

You probably can if you want to. But why would you. If you are a good player you should have no problem adapting to softball. You arent going to score any college baseball scholarships if you are a girl, it's a sad fact of life.

I think its cool that you play Baseball, but you should play Softball. High schools don't allow different sexes on physical sports like football, basketball, and baseball.
