Slipknot and the like are NOT death metal!!!!

Why are people naming metalcore and heavy metal bands?
Death Metal: Death
One of the founders of death metal (along with Possessed), their catalogue is very diverse - From the brutal Scream Bloody Gore to the technical Human, to the progressive The Sound of Perseverance, all of their albums have top-notch musicianship and songwriting. The lyrics are very intelligent that deal with philosophy and the vocals are aggressive and harsh, but still relatively understandable unlike the puking-your-lunch style vocals of crappy wannabe death metal bands. They're one of my favorite bands of all time, regardless of genre. R.I.P. Chuck.
Black Metal: Immortal
Like Death, their discography is highly varied, yet all good. They started off as a "kvlt" band, using raw production and minimalistic songwriting and evolved to the thrashier, tighter, cleaner band that brought us At the Heart of Winter. Also like Death, the vocals are relatively understandable while still being in the aggressive black metal style. Another one of my favorite bands, I'm going all the way to Germany to see them perform this summer.

Seeing people say Slipknot, Hinder and Cradle of Filth almost made me cry-- it's sad what some people refer to as "metal."
Death Metal-- Nile.
Black Metal-- They're not really pure Black Metal, but Borknagar.
