OK, let's admit. There were alot of "Glam Metal" guitarists in the 80's. But there we're also alot of very talented guitarists that were stuck in mediocre "cheesy" metal bands. So the question is...who do you think was the most talented? Geore Lynch, Warren DeMartini, Nuno Bettencort, Vito Bratta, Vivian Cambell...or someone else? Remember though, we're not talking about Priest of Metallica or anyone from that genre.

George Lynch is an incredible guitarist. I always thought Warren DeMartini was the most under rated guitarist from that era. Vivian Campbell, in my opinion, is a genius.

Of those you didn't mention, Vinnie Vincent was a talented individual whose ego got in the way of what could have been a step toward icon status. Chris DeGarmo, although Queensryche are hardly a mediocre or cheesy band, was also a very talented axe slinger who didn't quite get the recognition.

George Lynch, by far...I think he has the best technique, taste, and tone. But Nuno and Warren are great too, and Vivian Campbell is excellent. And remember when Paul Gilbert played for Mr. Big, with Billy Sheehan? That was one of the cheesiest bands ever, but those guys can PLAY!!!

I was in High School during that era and remember it all! Out of your list I think Vitto Bratta of White Lion is the most talented however my personal favorite metal guitarist is Jake E.Lee of Ozzy and Badlands fame.

I despised all of that beck then and even mor so now, but Pual Gilbert - as the first guy pointed out - has been recognized as awesome, even joining Vai & Satriani on a G3 tour, a no small feat (others were Malmsten, Fripp and Eric Johnson; all big leaguers). You've skipped the victim of Billy Idol, Steve Stevens, whose Top Gun Theme opened the door for guitareros to creep in to mainstream - not much of a player, but awesome sounds & great arrangements/ideas/innovations. As ffor Nuno, just one word: blyah....
