The Press makes money with controversy. They will instigate as much as possible.

As long as we are divided/distracted the politicians can just party & not do real work.

Then again our "leaders" seem either to lack vision or creativity.

You are right they/we need to look at the big picture!

To make the masses care about politics, the politician must be accountable. It takes making them vote on each & Every item. No longer can they put together a hajbaj of items so that garbage & pork get thru just so one important item becomes law. Every item MUST stand on its own merrit! By the way lobbyist would disappear, because it would become obvious who was in whos pocket.

Are you a foreigner? Even if you are, you're right. But don't be surprised. I'm very concerned about the USA because our elections are becoming jokes. It's so sad, it's not even funny. I'm into politics alot and I've been writing to other Americans about supporting third parties or independents. I plan to be a political scientist one day. But do you consider an Independent a muppet too? Third parties have such a hard time to get on the ballot in states. This time reminds me of the 60s and 70s. It's funny, the USA always has time to worry about the world and not about Americans like me. We can't even reform our electoral system because we always have to try to save the world. Corruption happens everywhere; the only reason why the USA makes front page is only because we're the super power. Thanks!

I agree to an extent, but when half of the population don't care about the wants and needs of the other half, then the lesser half must stand up to them. What would the world be like if it was run by the other side. Some where in the middle of an argument is a median, this is probably the best solution to the problem. But in order to find the median we need to know the extremes. That is why it is important to stand up for what you believe in. That is how it is suppose to work. It just hasn't been that way for the last 6 years, and there is no possible way it is going to be that way for two more.

I like your point. I also find 'gonzofever's reference to the drone quite an ironic one. As liberals get the label from being liberal in their thinking. They think outside the box, or more logically, if you will. While conservative is a word that refers to 'saving' or 'staying the same'. As this is a common way of describing a drone. It's better to think for oneself than it is to follow someone because of their title (Bush). As an American, I personally appreciate your comment. I say, feel free to leave a comment and not a question. People say this is a QA site but, all they do is attack one another.

But, again, thank you for you words, and I'm sorry that you will have so many negative comments from our conservative population on here. I'm sure it's not the best repesentation of the US people.

Maybe you don't see the bigger picture. To live in a country where we can OPENLY criticize you government, leaders, and policies.
Don't buy into the BS that this divides anything. Open expression keeps the government on there toes.

Bull. Division is indicative of intellectual diversity, If we are all in agreement, then we are all drones. Unity is a pipe dream. Division is not the terrible boogeyman people think it is.
Besides, how on Earth am I supposed to unite with the Marxist left? Over my dead body will that happen. I'd pull one out of a fire, but no way would I listen to him thank me afterward.

In spite of your mangling the English language, I understand and I absolutely agree. However, we can't get those pesky Liberals to NOT be divided from the rest of the country. They distort everything and spend all their time hating America. We have tried to get along with them, but they are absolutely incorrigible! They lose elections and then whine that the elections were stolen, though when they win, it was always fair and square and a mandate from the people.
Go figure.

Oh never mind our quarreling. The last remaining greatest thing about this country is that in times of need, we come together like a force you've never seen. Race, religion or political beliefs fall to the wayside as we rush to support one another.

Yeah, England is so united. Give it a rest. We have different views and we express it. But when the chips are down we all come together. The differences don't matter. Did you see us after 9/11?

Debate never hurt anything, It only helps to figure out the right direction to take. It's good to have several different Ideas.
