I can not tell you what the best age is. You should listen to your mom. Maybe she will let you wear some lip gloss. The is a new teen & tweens line of mineral makeup. Check the site under resources. They also have a line called Creationz By Me were you choose a product, a color, and the scents that you like and you get to mix the product yourself. You can even mix 2-3 scents to make a one of a kind product. It is all up to your imagination. The lip gloss is very sheer and makes your lips smooth and soft. Maybe your mom will let you start with the lip gloss and then start using other makeup in a year or two.

It's best to wear makeup when you really need it. I used to think the same thing but you really shouldn't start in 6th grade. Maybe you could starting wearing a little bit or mascara and lip gloss in 7th grade and go a little bit more each grade. Don't start it at 6th grade, believe me. Its also when you start going through puberty and putting makeup over your face can clog your pores and cause bad pimples/zits/acne. If you REALLY need or want it then just make sure not to cake your face or you will look like a clown (don't wear too much, you will regret it)

Every mom is different on this and you kind of have to respect her position and wait it out!
My mom said I could wear clear or lightly tinted lip gloss in 6th grade (but I went to a private school and they said you couldn't wear it until 7th grade!!!). Then she let me wear mascara when I turned 13 and eyeshadow (just a little) in 8th grade.
When I got to high school I was allowed to do "the whole deal". What REALLY made me mad is that she let my sister wear everything by the 8th grade. My mom's excuse was that my sister "needed it more" than I did! So maybe your mom thinks you are just beautiful without it and isn't in a rush for you to grow up!
You are only young once, so enjoy it while you can!

my personal opinion: girls shouldn`t be "putting on a face" at the age of 12. makeup messes up your skin when you use it way too much and by the time you`re 30, i`m telling you your skin will look all ugly and wrinkly, THEN you`d REALLY need makeup ! a little lipgloss is cute, but i honestly don`t think you need eyeshadow, foundation, mascara, and eyeliner until you`re maybe in high school, junior&senior year ? it`s amusing how some girls put on so much makeup, they literally shine in the light. when i was in 6th grade like you, all i used was lipgloss, you`re still young, live it up and have fun instead of having to worry about your looks too much.

OMG!! Thats sooo young to be interested in make up....I didn't wear anything until 8th grade and that was just a compact. Young kids seem to be growing up too fast today! I say ask your mom if you can get a powder compact and maybe a sheer gloss for your lips. Thats still too much for a 12 year old, but somewhat reasonable. Good luck!

It differs from school to school. Personally, I don't think people should wear make-up just to be accepted, but I think maybe seventh or eighth grade is a good time to start wearing make-up. A lot of the cool girls at my school hang out with girls who don't wear make-up, and most guys like a clean face better. (I'm in tenth grade.)

Well u can start at like around 10 if your not going to put to much on but if u have light skin and blond hair than i would put enough that u could see a light color. if your starting at a young age then i would use Mary Kay make up and get your colors. My mom sells Mary Kay make up and i have some and use it almost every day.
