I tried installing Nero on it and i wouldn't work. Do I need to download the new software (for free?) or do I need to buy the New Nero that is supported by Vista?

Try this:

Copy the CD to your hard drive. Try right-clicking on the install executable and choose Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and select to run the executable under Windows XP.

Ur gonna have to buy the new version of Nero, Nero 7.5, but I think it comes out until march, so you have about a month to wait.

Chances are you will have to buy the new version, many programs are having compatibility issues with Vista, however they might release a free update for previous users, you'll just have to wait and see
