I'm in 7th grade and I'm trying out for the talent show this year. I have a really pretty voice, but it's not meant to sing rock (aka I can't do that loud screeching singing). I was going to tryout with My Heart Will Go On from Titanic, but do you think that song would be to old and boring for the 7th and 8th graders to listen to? If so, please leave a list of songs you think would be better, and remember NO HEAVY METAL OR ROCK, please. Thank you. I can do country and pop though... LOL. KK's well thanks in advance! :D Bye y'all!

Just because you can't scream (that's what you call that "loud screeching singing"), doesn't mean that you can't sing rock. If you have a more soprano voice, then I would suggest "Don't Wake Me Up" by The Hush Sound. If you are more mezzo-soprano (like me!) then try "Pressure" by Paramore. And if you are an alto, then I would suggest "Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued" by Fall Out Boy. All really good songs with no screaming whatsoever! Good Luck!! (PS--all of these songs can be found either on PureVolume or the band's myspace pages, as well as on iTunes.) =)

I am in the 7th grade, and my friends would love it if someone got up and sang "Goodbye Earl" by The Dixie Chicks. Try "before he cheats" by Carrie Underwood. Something reved up like that, a stupid ex boyfriend, revenge, that will totally work, especially is you have a good voice. I have the voice, but no guts. If you have a friend that can sing, do something from the Wreckers... Maybe "Leave the peices" or "My, Oh My". Try "Sunshine and Summertime" by Faith Hill.

Pick a song that is in your vocal range and that you feel comfortable singing. Is there a song that when it comes on you can't help but sing to it? Thats the song you should sing! :-) Don't think about it too much and don't try to hard. Just get up on stage and have fun with it!
Good luck!

"Hurt"(Chrisitna Aguilera) and "Fallin'" (Alicia Keys)... I would consider that Alicia's song's better, even if it's old but maybe the vocals are too difficult. Anyway, good luck :)
