The difference is subtle. They both hold 4.7GB of data or 2 hours of video. The main difference is compatibility. Majority of DVD players are only compatible with DVD-R. I would suggest to only use DVD-R for recording movies.

I wish people would only answer questions if they knew the answer. Filling this forum with pointless answers and smartass comments is just wasting space and making yourself look foolish.

i think it means the dvd is rerecordable
