OK, I bought something from my ex when she was moving and sent her a check at the address she gave me. Well everyday she would email me and ask where the check was and I kept telling her I sent it. Well, today she emails me and tells me she looked back on the emails and she had given me the wrong city and zip, which is why the check never arrived
It has also not been returned to me.......
She has asked me to send her another check.....should I wait unil the other check is returned to me (since it cannot be delivered to a non-existant address?) or go ahead and send her another one......I don't feel that I should have to pay the stp payment fee on a check since the error was her fault
What do I do?

Yvette.........shut up. Really. I mean that quite sincerely
Not finger pointing, just trying to protect my family. If you knew the things she's done through seeminly innocent scenarios (such as this one), you'd do me a favor and slap yourself.

Well depending on how long ago you mailed the check, (If more than a week or two) you should at the very least put a stop payment on it. What you really should do though is change your account at your bank.
Those numbers at the bottom of your checks are the routing number and account number of your checking account. With that information it would be ridiculously easy for someone to start impersonating you... especially someone with say the same last name as you.
When I split with my ex, I changed everything just as a precaution, good thing the snake tried to empty my account but thankfully had the wrong account info.
Good luck and all that,

I would call the bank to see if it's been cashed. Then if it hasn't, put a stop payment on it and send her a new check for the amount of the purchase minus the amount of the stop payment fee.

have you checked your statements to see if the check was cashed? have you went on-line to your account and checked on your transactions to see if the check was deducted from your checking? if i were you i would be tracking down that check, someone else (at the address where you sent it) may have cashed it.
do you realize that on every check is your checking account number and the routing number for the bank?
that means that any thief out there can have the use of your information.

Agree to re-issue the check now if she will pay the Stop Payment fee. It was her error and is her need for quick resolution.

yeah, what CC said. Has the check cleared your account? you can get a photocopy of it to see if she cashed it and where. and see if it's her signature. don't send another check until you verify every thing! she could have moved sinse the first address and just be lying to you. you said she moved to another city, so you don't really know what's up. so check it out with your bank.

is the fee to stop payment more then the check?
then whats the problem? you eat one or the other in a situation like this, and personally, i would rather NOT eat the larger amount.
your not even still married and your still doing the 'its her fault' 'its his fault' thing. finger pointing is moot at this point, dont cha think?
unbelieveable.
do what you have to in order to protect the LARGER amount.

Cancel the first one with your bank and make out another one to her. You may want to check your bank to make sure someone else didn't try to cash it.

the stop payment would be cheaper than the head ache of dealing with her.
