I would love the idea on a five person shootout. Some teams have three superstars that just go every time in the shootout. But if there were 5 players shooting, a team would need more of a depth of good scorers, and i think the better team would win more often.

It would be Fairer, but I don't think a shootout has a place in an NHL game. if you fight as a team for 65 minutes, you should win or lose as a team, not on a coin toss, I mean shootout.

Personally, I don't find shootouts all that exciting
I like the old 2 points for a win,
One point for a tie,
and nothing for a loss
Which is the way the paychecks should be given out
That would get the teams skating.......

what is really wrong with three? its an odd number so the best of wins. If it were five then i think that i would take away from the shootout a little. and it can get to five in they are still tied.

there is no need to make the game even longer, but it would make it more exciting, but i do like the 5 player shootout due to the players get more of a chance to shine and get their team the GW goal.

Being a LONG time IHL fan.. We had the shootout and the rounds were always best of five. To me it was way more exciting.

They need to eliminate the shoot out completely.......they should play one 10-Minute 4 on 4 sudden death overtime period...if the score is still tied, it remains a tie game. You can say I'm a tradionalist, but regular season tie games, hv always been a part of NHL history.

Could you explain how it is more fair. Both teams get an equal number of chances, of course, in either system, so what difference does it make?
