Okay I was wondering how a doctor figures out your due date...Lates say I got pregnant this month...The first day of my last period was January 30th....lets say at the end of the month I find out i'm pregnant...how would the doctor figure out what day i concieved on.....

My reasoning is because I just picked up a new insurance...Yesterday and it was affective yesterday...now I have two insurances one to pick up what the other won't...I got it through the university and then my work...anyways...i'm not pregnant now, but I just want to make sure they wont consider this pre consisting??
please any opinions would be appreciated!!

My insurance states specifically that you can not have a preconsisting illness and try to be treated....so i was just wondering how docotors figured out the due date...do they just count 14 days after the first day of my period??? I don't have to have it for a year...I just can't be pregnant before I got my insurance!

The doctor will ask about the last time you had your period and the last time you had sex. You'll want to be as accurate as possible in order to know the best about your pregnancy and the baby's due date. If you are only stretching the dates by a couple of days everything should be fine with the insurance. I don't think it would matter anyway.

To estimate your due date before you go to the doctor for examination and an ultrasound (which is very accurate in determining the age of an unborn child), you will need to know the date of the first day of your last period. The methods here are based on the average 28-day cycle.

If you are a mathematician, the following formulas can give you an answer:
Date of the first day of your last period + 281 days = due date, or
Date of the first day of your last period + 7 days - 3 months = due date

Pregnancy, on average, lasts 267 days (38 weeks) from conception. If you positively know your conception date, you can add 267 days to it for your due date

I don't think anyone can actually determine the conception date.

As far as insurance... are you sure that pregnancy is considered a pre exsisting condition most plans have exceptions to this rule

You really have to contact your insurance companies to answer that. My university insurance didn't have any preexisting clause. When I was on Blue Shield, the particular plan I was on I couldn't have conceived until I had the insurance for at least a year for maternity to be covered. There are so many insurance plans out there that only a professional that works for the company can really answer your question. Not one insurance company in the world would cover you based on what people on yahoo answers tell you.

Example: If your last period was January 30 then you your conception date would be Tuesday, February 13, 2007
You always go by the first day of your last period
