Okay so me and three of my friends are going to try to go a week spending at most a dollar total each. What are ways to get free food (esspecially fruits and vegetables, I'm a vegan so yeah) ? Free transportation (other than hopping the turnstyle in the subway yes we live in New York)? Free school supplies (we're students) ? free clothes? Free entertainment? Without stealing, got a way?

(this is in LGBT because as a people we tend to look nice and have fun but be thrifty about it)

I so love your question.. what a great idea.... I think it's totally do able too. I recently heard of a group of friends in NYC that did this FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR ! Here are some of their key strategies and some of my own tips ( cause I am super cheeep)
I think they had few more in their group though so get more friends involved or adjust!
For clothing this group traded amongst themselves and held clothing trade nights ...a little get together where they traded clothing items... they had invited people bring a food item to share at the trade meeting.
To get bigger items free they looked on the web site freecycle and posted want ads on Craig's list. They also told family and friends that they were taking any unwanted items .... they took anything that was given. If they didn't want or need it they gave it away on freecycle or to charity.
You have several holidays throughout the year that are great gift getting times ! If theres something you just gotta have request it as a gift.
As far as the food goes .... you all sound like you live with parents. So just put your food needs down on the family grocery list. If your not apposed to Dumpster diving ... there is a whole underground network of people in NYC that dumpster dives for good food ( vegetables) Maybe search for more info on the net ! If you are near the Asian areas of NYC you can get good fresh vegetables/fruit SUPER CHEAP from their vegetable/ fruit stands !
Perhaps you could find a local soup kitchen to volunteer at ... maybe you could eat there in exchange for your help???
As far as entertainment you live in NYC .... The people watching alone is great entertainment! Look in the village voice for off - off Broadway plays or productions . Perhaps you could volunteer with a theather company in exchange for tickets to shows. I know a lot of Talk shows tape in NYC ... and taping are FREE ! Start with the Maury povitch or the peoples court ....both those shows offer free tickets !

For DVDs, and books even new releases go to the library. You can have them order from other libraries and when they get the items they call you. You can make a huge request list so something is always coming in... several friends + several lists.

There are a number of reasons....your parents may consider you too young to have a boy friend, you might be immature and easily taken advantage of, they may have a trust issue with you based on past behavior, maybe you have a history of choosing the wrong types of boys. These are a few of the Main reasons, there are plenty more.

And stay healthy? No. It might be possible, but to do it in NYC this time of year you'd most likely get very sick.
