Don't screw up! Find a good lawyer and he will handle it for you. Doing it yourself is like doing brain surgery on yourself. It is totally a legal matter and can get really nasty even if both parties agree and later change their minds.

You county website and it will advise as to "Pro Se" Forms (Pro Se meaning that you are representing yourself). In NJ the grounds for marriage in separation the time frame is 18 months. I wish you well in your endeavor. Oh and please do not let the forms intimidate you, just go to your local library or legal library for assistance.

Seriously, you should go to a lawyer and pay the $800.
You can do it without a lawyer but if you make some mistake a judge can make it all pretty miserable.
