People seemed to want to be my friend for a while but Ive been having a hard time because of my mental problems. They still like me and understand that somethings wrong with me but its just not getting anywhere so theyre starting to give up. I mean theyre still nice and I get the occasional hello but they dont try much anymore. I can see why they would be giving up, and I can't really ask them not to give up on me when Ive basically given up on myself. But it makes me sad

sweetie, first of all, never give up on yourself. friends will come and go, but you must love yourself always. we all have problems, and we all have certain things that we do not like about ourselves. trust me, when you like yourself, others will too. sometimes it takes a little while to find that friend that totally gets you, and that will be there no matter what.

The sad truth is it can be very wearing being around someone with emotional problems. When you most need friends you unintentionally push them away. Are you able to get treatment/support anywhere other than from friends? Maybe it's asking a bit much to expect friends to understand. If you could seperate your 'mental problems' from your friendships maybe friends wouldn't feel put upon. I wish you better mental health and more enduring friends.

You know, we might have a little in common here. At my job, I'm often sullen and quietly depressed. People used to ask how I was and conversate, but now they don't because of how I am most of the time. So I get it. I'm not sure if I have a disorder or just dislike my job. But they're just waiting on you to come forward. People will stop putting in effort if they sense it's not getting them anywhere. Good luck :)

Go see a counsellor hunny. Go to a mental health clinic, it's usually free there. If you're having mental problems/issues, you need to talk to someone you can trust. Someone who won't spread things around, who will keep it secret. I've been there, and trust me, it helps more than you imagine.
You caould also try writing, keeping a diary with all your thoughts and feelings. Maybe write down all your anger and burn the paper for a sense of relief

don't expect for ppl to help u if u cant help yourself. u are in control of your life and your situations. don't let your situations control u but u take control of the situation. friends will be friends (if they are true friends) but they can only do so much but it takes a tremendous effort to take charge over your problems and live your life determine and confident knowin that things will work out.
