I know it stopped a war for a while.
Pelé and Santos were going to play a game in a country the was having a civil war in Africa, they were going to cancel the game because of the war, but both fighting sides stoped the war for a while so Pelé could play.

I don't know if it's caused a war but if futbol can stop a war, can we schedule a game in Iraq and stop that war?

I would rather see futbol as a game that unifies people instead of dividing them. It's okay to root for different teams, different countries, and different players as long as it's good, fun, healthy competition. We all can't be rooting for the same teams otherwise some teams wouldn't have any fans at all. Even teams that are at the bottom of the table have fans and that's awesome.
