Back in the time you are asking? Women had no rights, and not until Martin Luther King's marches, and then LBJ and the civil rights bill was past, and even then the girls from Appalachia were 12years old being married off just like ancient times here, and in other countries I am not concerned about that as long as they don't bring their oppression and violence here. We are past that thank God! A man hit his wife in Idaho in a parking lot in 1992 and the police did nothing? hmmmmm? Each State, and each local area like counties, towns, cities differ. However if you have the parents consent you may date a girl of 17 and if they sign you can marry her as well. Like the barter and exchange? Two sheep for one camel? ha ha The irony is that women have a harder time than men by far! Man can marry a younger woman no matter what age. But a woman? Come on? ha ha Double standards by far. And then a man soliciting for sex is hardly arrested, but the woman is always collared on the spot? This is a mixed up world and yet when it comes to rape, or minor children be molested in any way that is a real crime. No one should ever force themselves on anyone ever, regardless of age, but it is very sad to see these children that have been molested here in America, this has been going on forever but we are now active and have made policy, and take action now thank goodness.
Good luck, and get permission or wait out the year! The general public is sick and tired of paying for unwed mothers and their abandoned kids by dead beat fathers, that is where they tightened up the laws, and that means because of money! It was a moral issue as well, but that was the secondary reason the laws were passed! It is revenue, that is all the government looks at to place laws, and enforcement of such follows! Think about it why didn't they care all these years about the little appalachian girls at 12? And Married men having babies with another woman and the unwed mother was on welfare in many cases? I guess the money had to reach a peak before the crime was committed. We have no morals here anymore, if you do, you don't watch Jerry Springer that is for sure! It will make us puke!

For most of mankind's history , people survived off the land and were capable of supporting themselves by the time they were teenagers. Mary has been estimated to have been around 12 yrs old at the time of Jesus birth.
Maybe 1 in a 100 teenagers in the Western World can support themselves today. Society is tired of supporting babies than clueless teenagers bring into the world because they have zero self control / are not bright enough to see the big picture.
The mighty officials are pushed by taxpayers sick of supporting those offspring.

Your theory is flawed. Mary and Joseph lived 2000 years ago, and she was filled with the holy spirit, not Joseph, to make Jesus.
also it was a different land with its own customs
AOC varies by country and state, also Dating is legal, sex isn't unless her parents really like you
Consent applies to the sexual act and the setting of it is based on what is deemed legally mature to voluntarily engage in the act. The US has 18 as a baseline in regards to porn, and smut as a clearly enforcable demarcation. while each state i believe has it set between 16-18 with certain stips applying to the under 18s(CSI Miami stated in one ep that AOC in FL was 16, but that the guy had to be under 24) There is also the Mann act which states that you can not take a teen across state lines because you may be attempting to cheat the variable AOC between those states.
I believe the national AOC statute dates to around the turn of the last century, with each state adjusting accordingly from then until now. and you'd have to be a major ****** to have a DA seek life in statutory case in which your partner admits it being voluntary.

Well Mary was probably about 14-16.
Back then when life wasn't too long and medicine wasn't all that great, you were old when you hit 35. If you lived till 45-50 you were ancient.
Joseph was probably in his mid to late 20's when he became Jesus' father.

state legislatures decide the age, Mary however according to legend was inpregnated by God who must of liked them young, as she was still a virgin, so they say, but she was quite a complainer during her pregnancy as she rode Joseph's @$$ all the way to Bethlaham
