The Scion tC is an awesome car and would make a great first car due to its high build quality and reliability. I have had to opportunity to extensively drive a Scion tC and they are very fun and comfortable, has a good sounding stereo, and several standard safety features that other car in its class do not have. And it is safe in a collision. My best friend and 2 of her friends were struck from behind at approx 60 mph while at a stop, and no one in the car was hurt. I was amazing considering the rear bumper was almost in the back seat.
Its a good looking car to with made aftermarket parts available to customize your car. The standard moonroof is also a welcome feature to let the wind run through your hair in all seasons. It has keyless entry, anti lock brakes. I can not think of any bad things to say about the car.
I will say compare the price of a new one to a used. It may be worth your time. Good Luck!!

I answered this same question a few days ago, here is my reply to the first person. :)
I've done my research on it, and am planning on buy one in July. Consumer guide best buy!!! Has the sporty looks that people like, the features of a more expensive luxury car and the reliability of Toyota behind it's name. I've spent numerous hours looking into any flaws or tech. problems and really the major only concern I've heard was there is too little room in the rear. Well it is a hatchback, so if people wanted more room, go get an SUV or something lol. And no, it's not a chick car!! :) Put the TRD exhaust and muffler with the rear ped spolier on it and you got your one hell of a car my friend. Of course you can always look into putting in the TRD turbo lol. But overall, gas mileage 23/30 is great, 160 hp is all I really need and it has the great looks! I fell in love with this car and I drive a 05 civic ex and I find this to be much better then my little economy car. On a scale of 1-10 I rank it about a 9.8 Do what you think is best for you, but overall the Tc is an excellent choice!!! I don't see where you can go wrong! Good luck!
(That answer was for a guy by the way, so ignore the chick part ;) haha Hope this helps, and hope to see you on scionlife.com someday!!!

I own a 07 Scion i love it it is a wonderful car to drive lots of pros the only cons to scions is accessories the car just comes kind stock all scions are made the same you have all your power options, cd player, but if your looking for accessories like fog lights or in my case and ipod plug you have to have that customized from the dealer or buy aftermarket products. Scions just dont come with alot of options unless asked for at the dealership, but the drive is wonderful.

No. even however the older tC became in fact a replica of the 2001-2005 Toyota Celica, which became a activities automobile, the tC became in no way seen a activities automobile because of the fact of its softer tuning and emissions. It became categorized as a Compact Coupe. that's "Sporty", yet no longer a activities automobile. coverage is going up for those motives: -Rear wheel rigidity -2 door automobiles -something larger than a 4 cylinder engine -speedier or superchargers The Scion tC has 2 doors, yet not one of the different factors for best coverage linked with a activities automobile.

The car it self running and handling is excellent the only thing that i have against the car is the saftey issue. If that car ever flips you are automaticly dead due to having glass as a roof. But other then that a scion tc is good for the price it goes for.

Body integrity: Seals, weather stripping, loose interior trim, air and water leaks, wind noise, rattles and squeaks.
The tc received the lowest rating on Consumer Reports for body integrity. This is probably due to the glass roof. Maybe consider something from the Toyota line instead.
