Crayons

This actually depends on the drawing, illustration or whatever. For finer detail, colored pencils. For a bolder, more outstanding look, markers. And for the softer, more colorful picture, crayons. So which look are you going for. You could also use all three: markers for outline, colored pencils for finer details & crayons in larger areas.

Well it depends on what you are needing to use them for.

I like all three, but like I said it depends on the effect you want, what the project is, and what would work the best to do what you want.

I like sharp crayons or colored pencils so they make a nice mark. With markers I like them new so you don't get the faded color with old markers.

What are you going to be making?

Colored pencils are good for light/dark shading.. Markers are fun. Crayons are fun too. But they get dull, depending on how you color. I like colored pencils better.

Markers can be messy, but they cover more easily and darker,
Crayons feel oily, and don't "color" as smooth as other...products.
Colored pencils can leave you with good results but they're harder to cover large areas with, and they leave streaking behind.

I'd chose oil pastels since you can blend them so well...but crayons would be the next best thing. I do love how crayons instantly make me feel like a kid again. :)
