This it the 2nd year of a keeper league where we keep 5 players and 2 rookies. Is this guy worth an early pick, if not how long should I wait?

Well, I've heard 2 different reports. The first one said we gave up our 2013 2nd rounder and a conditional 2nd or 3rd next year. If that is the case, we way overpaid for him. The other report said we swapped 2nd rounders with San Fran this year and gave them a 2nd or 3rd round conditional next year. If that is the case it isn't too bad. My biggest problem with the trade is that if the first case is true, we didn't trade that much to just rent him for 2 years. He'll be getting an extension along the lines of 4 or 5 years and $50 million. That means even if we draft a QB that ends up being better than him, all we did was take San Francisco's problem and make him ours. Only this time with a completely untradeable contract. And everyone keeps saying that Reid is so great with QBs. OK, if that's true why couldn't he draft a QB at #34 this year, work his magic and save us a crap load of cap space and a pick that could help the team next year? I was super pissed the other day when this was announced. I've calmed down a little bit until I see for sure what the final details of the trade are. Either way, there are about 100 ways this trade could go bad and only one way it goes right. I love the Chiefs like one of my children so I'm trying to find silver lining here but I can't. NFL and Chiefs history says this is going to blow up in our faces.

I would say at face value no. If you have a 12 team league with 5 keepers that means that only the top 60 players are gone, and by your second round pick at worst you are still at the 88th best player in the league, which is far less of a risk than Alex Gordon. You can still get a proven player with essentially the 88th pick in the draft. If he gets called up and gets the starting job right away I would say you could take the risk and go for it, but probably not.

As good a talent he may be, that is really early for a guy who may or may not come out of spring training on the team, and he's hoping to be on the Royals at that, so really how many stats is he going to put up on that awful team? Definitely keep an eye on him, but I would think you're getting more value on him if you grab him in the later rounds and would instead spend early picks on proven guys or young guys who will start the season in the big leagues. Chris B. Young might be a nice 3rd or 4th round pick for you if he's available.

No way. Draft someone who is in the show and reliable in the second-round. You can hold off on a rookie like Gordon until way later in the draft, especially if he has a bad-showing in Spring Traning. If that's the case he could wind up starting the year in AAA and then he's no help to your team.

I can't tell you when to pick him as that is your call, but this kid is the real deal. I saw him play at least 5 times in AA and hes the complete package. He'll probably be a gold glover soon and he has an amazing bat.

No... you should wait till next year. If you really want to pick him this year, go in round 8.
