I've been working under her for 5 weeks, and she has been teaching me all sorts of stuff (we're in physical therapy), and I'm leaving next week. I want to get her something she will remember me by. She lives alone and doesn't get out alot, and I just don't know what to get her. Help!

Stay professional with your gift. Office related items like a nice pen are great (I'm always looking for pens at my clinic). Did you notice anything she needed in the office like a rolodex or business card holder? Gift cards are nice, too. Amazon is great because she can go online a purchase a PT related book (and you can get a gift certificate emailed - instantly). A local deli or coffee shop she patronizes often would be good - but that is temporary.

The most important part is the thank you card.

If you know that she 'likes to read' and you have an idea of 'the type of book she likes to read' then get her a book ... or you could simply get her a $25-50 'gift card' to a good local bookstore that carries books, CDs and DVDs so she'll be able to pick what she 'likes best' ... and you are a 'good person' for thinking of this 'gift' for your instructor.
