"There has to be both a Mommy and a Daddy to make a baby. Since there isn't a Daddy in our house, there won't be any new babies right now."

Tell the truth, in terms he is able to undertand.
My daughter was around 2 when my other daughter was born and she wanted to know how babies are made and born. I just told her that you need a Mummy and a Daddy, the mummy has eggs and the daddy has sperm. When the sperm and the egg mix it turns into a baby. The baby grows in the Mums womb and when it is ready to come out, it comes out their vagina.
I persnally think its best to tell children the truth from an early age so they dont get confused etc.
But do what you feel is appropraite for your child and how much your child will understand.

How old is he? Some answers are more appropriate than others at a young age. If he's young, a simple "perhaps when I find a new husband to be the daddy" will suffice. Children don't always want (or need) the details. Give him a simple honest answer. If he wants more details, he will ask as long as you keep the lines of communication open. My oldest asked about babies at age 4 when I was pregnant with my youngest. She asked me how babies were made. My reply made her extremely happy and was honest. I said "They are made out of love." At age 10, she got curious again. I was able to supply more details at that time. Good luck!

Im wondering how old he is.
I tell my son the truth, and always have (he's 11). He has been taught the proper words for body parts and when he started asking questions I answered them all honestly. I just had a baby 7 weeks ago, and big brother was very in tune to what what happening when I had an emergency c-section, cause we are open. It has worked well for me, Good Luck!!

on the day it occurred, i did not turn the television on in our abode. I knew that the reality may invade quickly sufficient as my husband became energetic accountability military. interior the introduction days, weeks, months and years, we said it beginning with the fundamentals -- "quite indignant human beings did something undesirable that led to countless human beings to die and now your Dad is going to flow 1/2 a international away and attempt to fix self belief and peace to our friends." As they have grown, we've added information. My children at the instantaneous are 13 and 11. My daughter examine "via Their Eyes," a chain of monologues written by technique of scholars at Stuyvesent about what occurred to human beings interior the faculty surrounding the shape. She became so moved by technique of the e book that we examine aloud from it at abode and said it as a kin. My children have both watched documentaries about the activities surrounding 9/11, 2001 through the years. i have not tried to conceal something. After watching the sequence about the memorial at floor 0, we are now discussing a visit to large apple. My husband, their father, became distant places even as it occurred and deployed many times over the subsequent 5 years. i'd have made up some tale about why he became lengthy gone, although the actuality turned right into a lot a lot less complicated.

i think its really important to tell kids the truth in situations like this. i'm a single mom too and i've always told my daughter that maybe one day i'll meet a wonderful man and we'll have a child together, but until then, she and i have each other, and our little family is perfect the way it is. you dont have to get graphic and explain sex yet if hes still small, just that you'd like to get married first.

Why don't you tell him about sex? It would answer a lot of questions and maybe give him a leg up on being intelligent about how he chooses a partner when he's old enough.
I don't think you're ever too young to learn about the world.

Just tell him the truth.
Or to make it easier, there is probably some sort of kiddie book that explains it gently in the library.
