It depends on in what context the talent is. I can't tell a football superstar from a mediocre player but I know a great author when I read one. I guess it depends on being able to tell what talent is in a field.

I think I do, in most cases. I know when a new song or artist will make it; I know which books and authors have made it--and why; I usually know if a TV show or movie will do well, and I usually know if a new actor will become a celebrity.

Of course I'm not always right, but I am more often than I've been wrong.
