its similar to taking a cassette tape out and putting it back in. my windows media player took forever to burn a cd. after reebooting everything is fine.

I wouldn't rely on Windows Media Player to burn a CD anyhow. Nero or Alcohol is a much better program. There are cases where rebooting makes a system worse, if you have become infected with a spyware or virus, rebooting can actually be dangerous if you don't clean the infection first.

It's like clearing all the files and services that you have open and running. It's like starting again with just the basic things needed to run the computer or what you have starting up.

After the computer has been on for a while and you have been opening and closing programs and files, they kind of get all out of order and when you reboot that are put back in better order.

After so long, you start running a million programs that sometimes leave things behind in the memory, restarting clears it out
