Well you do have a point. In reality most college QB's are a bit overrated until they prove themselves in the pros. I agree Troy Smith of OSU is getting dissed because of his size and he was not in a pro style offense like Quinn. But, as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

No.
Brady Quinn is an easy Top 10 pick, while Troy Smith (from OSU) is going to fall into the second round at the earliest. The Heisman Award is largely meaningless when trying to decide good NFL players anyway, because there's a HUGE difference between playing good college ball and playing good NFL ball.
Troy Smith = typical Heisman bust
Brady & JaMarcus Russell = future NFL starters
and also, Notre Dame is not overrated. That'd be OSU (Overrated State University)

NO!!!!! Troy Smith lives out of the shot gun and you won't survive in the NFL doing that, also the reason Troy Smith got better numbers than Quinn is the O-line. ND's O-line is PATHETIC!!!. We had almost no time to throw the football all season but Brady was able to make some plays. Troy Smith could have a year to throw the football and never have to leave the pocket. Alos OSU has a greeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaat KR/PR game. Ted Ginn is a brilliant player and gets Smith great field position. Im a die-hard ND fan and I cant even name our KR! Another reason is OSU has a stunning shut down defense. They have many playmakers and have great chemistry. They can shut down 99 percent of the nation's teams. On the other hand, ND probably would allow 24 points to Duke in the first quarter! We have one solid pass rusher and a play making safety. Everybody else is above average or just average. As you can see, clearly teammates is what leads to wins and good statistics.

Ya he is overrated but then again, most guys coming out of college are to an extent. Many guys that win the Heisman are seen very highly and a lot flop so I would not compare him to Troy Smith, especially since there hasnt been a real big bust in a while. Notre Dame is overrated at most things and I would love to see him fail in the NFL, but the truth is, he has all the things scouts look for in a good quarterback.

All players are over-hyped before the draft. The problem with brady quinn is that he could never win the big game. Notre Dame could never win the big game because they had no defense. Even though Troy Smith won the Heisman Trophy, scouts say he is too short.

Don't be ignorant. The only reason Troy Smith won the Heisman is because he had talent around him and the No. 1 team. Brady Quinn was the most prolific passer, the most efficient and led the NCAA in almost every statistical category last year. Do a little research before you start running your mouth.

Notre Dame and Brady Quinn are both overrated in my opinion. To be honest though, Troy Smith from Ohio State will not be as good a NFL quarterback as Quinn.

Yeah, but "the Ohio State guy" was even more overrated. Quinn is a much better pro prospect, although he is a tad overrated as well.
And to Mike: No one ever thought Troy Smith would be a good NFL QB. Smith is not even CLOSE to the level VY was at IN MIDDLE SCHOOL! Smith will not ever win an NFL game... heck, he won't ever complete an NFL pass.

Brady Quinn is totally overrated (since the Sugar Bowl he has avoided any more chances to hurt his draft stock like the Senior Bowl), as is Notre Dame is in general, and as a Miami Dolphins fan I am terrified that mock drafts have us picking him up because I don't think he will be a good NFL starter. Notre Dame has so much tradition, history, and huge fanbase, that they get overrated and invited to bowls where they don't belong, which is why their W-L record is so horrible in bowl games the last 10 years. They sell tickets, but they aren't as talented as say SEC teams. They key is always strength of schedule, and Notre Dame didn't beat a single ranked team last year I don't think. Ohio State and Michigan had incredibly weak schedules as well. You saw NFL talent in the BCS Championship game, but other than Ted Ginn it was all on the Florida side of the ball.

I would have agreed with this question 2-3 months ago when people were talking about him going top two or three in the draft. I don't think he is a solid top 5 pick. However, with that said I think he would be a good pick for Miami at #9. I don't think he's among the top 10-15 players coming out in the draft I just think Miami has a huge need for a QB and I think he will work out well in that market and that system.
