Yes, and I have for over 50 years.
I also know the words to the National Anthem, the Preamble to the Constitution and the Gettysburg Address. As well as a few other interesting documents. Like excerpts from Hitler, "first we must locate and confiscate all privately owned firearms", he was successful. The liberals in the US have been working on this since 1968. And how about a bit from the Communist Doctrine, "From each according to his abilities, and to each according to his needs". If that sounds like welfare, that's because it is.
I applaud your question but please don't allow it to exist in a vacuum.
And I agree, What the hell??

Our founding fathers weren't, strictly speakme, Atheists, however they did installed a central authority with out any distinctive faith. That's why they use the phrase "Creator" alternatively of "Jesus", "Jehovah", "God", and so on. For extra at the Treaty of Tripoli, see the hyperlink under. @Alkaline: You are wholly incorrect. Murder, Theft, and so on have all been unlawful in just about each and every civilization. If the Pledge of Allegiance were on the tube everyday, most would know it. It's not required in most schools anymore so what is the big surprise?

Sucks, that due to the Patriot Act 1 & 2, we're losing our liberties right before our eyes.

i pledge allegiance to the flag of the United Stated of America
and to the republic for which it stands. one nation under God
with liberty and justice for all.
i am past 70. when i was in school we recited the pledge
every day and not one person in my acquaintance ever
suggested that the under God should be omitted. it was
the opinion that any nation that did not stand under God
was destined to fall.

I saw that. I know the Pledge, but I refuse to recite it until "Under G-d" is removed. That part should've left with the end of the Cold War.
