if you have the right accessories, a steering wheel and a gas/brake pedal pad, and you play first person (through driver's eyes) you can get a decent feel for driving - especially with the most recent games.

however, when you drive, you move your head a lot more, lighting conditions are real (though usually don't take effect until you are older), visibility might be better or worse [than video games] depending on the situation. also, when you drive, the driver notices small bumps and stuff that other passengers typically don't notice. you can possibly feel when your car needs maintainence. i can feel when gravel hits my fenders, which i'm sure everyone can feel.

little details like that might seem negligent, but they're all a part of driving. just like getting gas, and changing a tire, something that i don't think you should be able to get a license if you don't know how to do it.

but, i'll let you in on a secret. sometimes while i'm driving on the road, heading home from work late at night, i secretly push the X button in my car to use a nitro tank that i ran over. it makes me go too fast though, so i have to hit SQUARE a lot to slow down...

there is absolutely no affect, it can actually make you worse because your probably driving all over the road. your controlling the car with the controller not the pedals and a steering wheel.

apsolutely, because this kid had a driving game, (with the accessories driving wheel and pedal, don't know much about it) but then he drove to the airport, and went on an airplane, and then police started asking him question when they found him, and he said "I knew how to drive because of my car game" and how he got the airplane ticket I don't know, but I think he got his mom's credit card, and bought one online,
so yes, if you have the right accessories.
