I have wanted a Dyson Animal for a long time and now I'm just going to do it, swallow the pride on the price and get one. I think.........

Now I'm wondering how the Dyson compares to the Bissell Healthy Home. Which one would be better for a home with 3 kids, a husband, 2 cats that shed like mad, and a golden retriever/saint bernard mix dog? Pet hair and allergens is a BIG concern, which is why I'm wanting the Animal but does anyone know if the Bissell is just as good or better? Durability? Reliability?

Or for that matter, anyone own the Animal? Can you tell me what you think? Thanks!!

Any Vacuum with a HEPA filter is going to help remove dust and allergens from the air as you vacuum. I have owned a Dyson and wasn't particularly inpressed, they do have a little more suction power so you have to be carefull when cleaning delicate items such as curtains and drapes, and the air powered brush that came with mine liked to eat couch cussions. It snagged any stray threads.

If you are willing to spend the extra money for looks and a name i say go for it. But I would buy a good HEPA filtered vacuum (any brand) and use the extra $150 to take the family to Dinner.

If you look at the consumer report on vacs you will see that the Dysen was not even in the top 10 ratings
