Hey all,
I have a loft. Same size as house. Anyone in Uk recommend an insulation I can put between the eave-joists. I have put rockwool on loft floor and now want tro the roof. Have checked Scewfix, but cant see anything obvious.

Thanks
Ralph

You have quite a few choices of insulation. You can use a glass or mineral wool. Its available in rolls or batts (slabs) of different thicknesses. Its not difficult to fix, but the glass wool can be unpleasant to handle. Use gloves, dust mask and eye protection. Or there are foam plastic sheets made by companies such as Kingspan or Celotex that you can cut to size. They are available in a range of types and thicknesses. All builders merchants sell the stuff and several insulation suppliers sell on ebay at reasonable prices.

hi Ralph ..are you saying you want to insulate the roof its self ...that is in between the rafters .. .if that is the case ..you can buy sheets of celotex .this is a poly urethane sheet with silver foil on both sides ..this can either be cut in between the rafters or fixed sheet width across the face of the rafters .. when working in this area it is allways best to screw items rather than nail them ..you can dislodge yor roof tiles very easily ..or you can buy rolls of a material called tri iso 10 ..this is a multi layer material and gives the equivelent u value of 250mm of fibreglass

See if you can get a Grant from the goverment for the Insulation as they give them to help us meet the Kyoto Agreement on carbon emissions.

you have been given a few choices king span is great u value
one thing you do need to ensure is that you have adequate ventilation in between the joist or else the timbers will sweat and then rot.
