Great hockey player coming up from playing roller in NYC to the NHL. Who cares if he was a nice guy or not. He played his butt off and gave lots of American born players the ambition to work hard enough to get into the NHL.

Joe Mullen was my favorite Flame player growing up. Wasn't the biggest player but he was always a huge threat to the opposing team. He's also the only reason I cheered for the Penguins in the Stanley Cup playoffs. After the Flames were out of course.

Joe was a bulldog on the ice. He wasn't very big, but still the highest scoring American born player in the NHL. He rubbed some people the wrong way, but I thought he was a good guy. Last I heard he was with the Penguins organization in player development .

Joe Mullen was one of the most prolific american scorers in my lifetime. I was a HUGE fan of him when he played on the Calgary Flames. When he was traded to the Penguins he became a jerk.. Still a great scorer but a jerk none the less.
