Imagine that you are alone, on a desert island. Laying in a tent which is pitched underneath some palm trees.

Start to plan what you are going to do tomorrow.
There's some driftwood that you've been storing up in the cave by the lagoon.

If you cut down some vines you could tie the wood together to make a raft. Then you would be able to go fishing further out where the big fish are.

There should be enought driftwood to build a chalet as well. The tent is very nice but when the winter starts a chalet would be much nicer. Also there would be more room to put your radio that is powered by solar panels. Isn't it amazing how many stations you can pick up from there?

There is so much to do. Aren't you lucky that all those vegetable seed packets were washed up in that chest? Fresh vegetables in no time.

My goodness, most people would pay a fortune to be in your position. Especially as the island has magical qualities and you know you are never going to get ill of have a tooth ache.

Of course, when you get tired of all this, you still have the helicopter on the otherside of the island that you can use to go home, but in the meantime, you will just stay there and be happy.

Best go to sleep now - need your strength for tomorrow.

Try to sleep at a reasonable hour if possible (before midnight), since our systems re-charge during the wee hours of the morning and try to sleep at the same time each night. Get in some exercise regularly, studies show that people who exercise regularly reported better quality of sleep. Just make sure not to do it before bed-time as that will definitely keep you awake. If you often wake up in the middle of the night to make a bathroom run, avoid eating or drinking a couple of hours before bed time. Avoid caffeine before bed as well. You may also want to read a bit or listen to relaxing music or meditative type of cd as you are trying to fall asleep. Sleep in total darkness if possible; get heavy curtains that won't let the light in. Make sure the temperature in your room is comfortable. I can have a comfortably warm room but if my feet are cold, I won't be able to sleep so I usually wear socks to bed. Finally, turn the alarm clock away from you so you don't stare at it while trying to fall asleep.

If you play sports all day or work on a farm all day you will automatically drop dead at the end of the day in a comatose sleep until tomorrow. Thats how I noticed I sleep better. Or just see how long you can stay awake. Then youll be asleep in no time.

I go to sleep with my iPod on, listening to soothing music (like the legend of zelda...). Being more active during the day will also help tire you out in the evening so your body will be ready and willing to fall asleep.

My psychology book suggests drinking a warm glass of milk before bed.

Also, turkey contains chemicals that make you sleepy.

Keep a pad of paper by your bed if you have racing thoughts so you can write them down to crystallize them.

Do not eat an hour before bed. Do not drink caffeine.

Drink a glass of chamomile tea before bed.

Eat 3 meals, excercise daily, read a book before bed, put up curtains to block out lights, wear earplugs to block out sound, and invest in some comfortable pillows/blankets.
