get him a cell phone so you can keep in touch and he can have more responsibality around the house or if he has a part time job maybe pay the bill for the first few months. pay as you go phones work best for 18 year old who are just starting out on there own phone. or get a contract and make a line of credit for him early. get the lowest plan and pay his bills. and teach him how to ballance his money so he can pay it himself in a few months

At the age of 18 there are only 3 things a guy thinks about and that is Wheels, Girls and gadgets. Find out what kind of music he likes. (I put that under the gadget category lol) If he has a set of wheels buy him something for the car.

Most 18 year old boys are 'into' something like music or their cars. Try and I-tunes gift card.....or just money! I'm 27 and I just handed over cash to my 18 year old cousin for his birthday! Cash is always good.

What exactly is he interested in? Music, sports, et cetera. A gift card to a store of his interests is easy, and usually appropriate. This way he can choose exactly what he wants.

Do you have a place that sells things that can be engraved? I find that people love things that.When I'm confused about giving a gift, I go to one of those stores and pick something out. If you can get a gift in one of those stores and get it engraved, he'll like that.
