No, it's not bad as long as you make the ride "smooth" for the laptop, in other words, it's not subject to vibration or bumps.

Nah it's not bad at all. Laptops were designed to be portable and 'movable'. Heck, you can wave them in the air if you want. Just try not to move it if it's burning a cd because it'll run the risk of skipping.

well, if you're using the CD-ROM drive for anything (ex: software, DVD, audio CD, CD burning, etc) it may cause the CD to momentarily "skip," but as long as you're careful, moving it from your lap to the table is perfectly fine. people use laptops in cars on bumpy roads, and even use them as they walk around. you have no need to worry...just don't drop it, of course! =) this can do serious damage to your hard drive...meaning...you can completely lose everything on your laptop. which is BAD. haha

I would suggest keeping it stationary and away from carpet they can be sensitive to static so don't take a chance either way...while running you really dont need anything to corrupt or lock your system so always give it time to finish the program...
