If this is true will this help, I have some doubts here as it appears the Gov dosn't actually know what being British is themselves, as they are busy asking all and sundry just what being British is all about.
Red telephone boxes, German inbred toffs and the intricate rules of cricket are not really cutting the mustard apparently anymore....
Assuming they figure it out what it is, is the plan then to teach this wisdom to certain British citizens who have taken to blowing things up recently. These people were British, they had British passports so now all of a sudden the Gov decides to seriously address the issue that just because someone has a British passport, it makes you about as British as a sardine in a tin.
Without real integration attempts from both sides this teaching of what being British is, is actually just another smokescreen with no real purpose at all, what do you think?

Basically to be British means tolerant, yet a binge drinker, pregnant single teen and taking all types of drugs...
This includes most walks of life in certain areas, like my home city : Nottingham.
Good luck on teaching Britishness, it won't ever be properly defined.

Are you yourself British? You don't sound it!
I think your statement that without real integration from both sides is nonsense. Why should I as a British person change to suit people who suddenly decide that they can dictate what this country should be. This is a Christian Country it's laws are made to suit the majority and should not be changed to suit a minority group. If they hate it here then what is stopping them from leaving? They don't want to be British whether they have a passport saying they are or not! Why did their families come here? To get away from oppression and to have the freedom living here has given them. It should be them that teach their young that to live peacefully means accepting the laws and culture of their adopted home. Other cultures have integrated into our society and most have enriched it in some way. We'd still only have fish n chip take aways without the Chinese, Indian and Mediterranean people who came here. Our Royal family is a number of generations away from being German and the Queen is very proud of her Scottish Heritage, also her husband is Greek not German, so at least try and get your facts right!
At last a Government of this Country has been brave enough to say enough is enough! It's just a pity they wont say as I do, fit in or get out! To you Brits out there who are as Anti this country as any of the immigrants I say the same!

How can any Government intent on handing us over to a foreign entity, the EU, possibly lecture us about Patriotism. It isn't an academic exercise, it is an emotional one, an affair of the heart. If a person doesn't instinctively know, then he isn't British. Trying to define it undermines it. However, it gives the unpatriotic 'lefties' an opportunity to re-define it to match their left wing agenda. They will then indoctrinate our children with their view about what they think our values should be. It is a little like asking a child to define its love for its mother. As you have intimated in the subtext to your question, it is a accumulation of hundreds of small things, some beyond recall and understanding.

It's just more spin, they are continuing on a program of fooling most of the people (who vote) most of the time. They merely want to stay in office. They make laws to try to look good, not because we need new laws. They fail to reform or dump laws that are no longer relevant, or appropriate in a civilised society. They want to be able to lock people up without presenting any reason. They also want to be able to let out the most serious offenders just because the prisons are overcrowded, not due to the offenders having become reformed citizens. They don't offer rehabilitation to offenders. the list just goes on, they are totally useless, but they really want to be in office. It's worse than "yes minister".

Well I agree with most of what you say (( I'm English)) and you sound like a yank to me ,you will notice that i said English as opposed to British , I don't feel any attachment to the scotch or the welsh and the less said about the Irish the better .
Your poke at the English Royalty seem to me a bit rare when your most revered leaders are people like a two bit B actor , or a peanut farmer or a downright crook to say nothing about GW .
Pretty soon most of California will be made up of illegal Latinos .
Not that our leaders are any better , I think they are too busy playing the game to look after the country properly .

Having destroyed the British by inflicting multiculturism on us they are now panicking. It is not Britishness they need to woo but the English taxpayer who they have screwed. Our identity has been lost and all we are fit for is to pay our taxes and have no opinions.
