I recently overheard my husband of 12 years talking to a friend about going to a 'gentlemen's club' (on several ocassions) with other guys in downtown manhattan and spending just about $1,000.00 on their last visit!! I'm not sure how many guys were there, but what the hell do you get for this? Now.. please don't be vicious with your responses. I'm looking for understanding as to why he would be going there? Obviously, I think our marriage is good, i'm in good shape and our sex life is great!! What gives with you guys and strip clubs???

Ann... I wrote that I would prefer answers from males since it's their point of view and opinion as to why men go to these clubs that I'm looking for. Of course a women's view would be ackowledged, but I sincerely feel that it would be a MAN'S response that knows why a MAN goes there. And... from the responses that I've gotten so far, I kinda think most of them are legit and honest. :-)

Don't get too down about this. It is not you and does not mean he cheated on you. I go to strip clubs and in NY it is going to cost a lot more for a lap dance than $20. Some men get off some just need a recharge once in a while. If it is a constant 3-4 times a month thing then he has an issue that needs to be dealt with. If it is a once every couple of months with the boys then don't sweat it, it can be good for your sex life.

There are a number of "depends". First, is he the champion or just a follower? Sometimes, a guy can't bow out easily if one member of his group starts the idea. It's a man thing.
Second, what business is he in? Like it or not, some lines of business have a lot of entertainments.
I dare say that many young men have been to strip clubs. I did it as a college student many years ago. Just look and no touch. We even had a bookworm with us because we were just plain curious. The restaurant chain Hooters target mostly men. Grooms have their bachelor parties and brides have their parties. It only takes one member of the party to suggest the program content. As a bride to be, are you gonna be upset if the groom gets such as bachelor party by his buddies?
It is a concern that if a man goes to these expensive clubs habitually and cause financial hardships at home, then it is not acceptable at all.
I have said elsewhere that it all depends on whether a man acts on their impulses.

Contrary to what people say if a man wants to go to a
strip club and is married then he should ask his wife to
come along, and if she doesn't want to then he should
respect that and even if he still wants to go then he should
not be spending 1000dls. Ask him what he does there
with that kind of money just to see what he says and if
he continuously goes there and spend a lot then you
to set some rules as after all you are the wife and have
the right to. Talk to him seriously and see why it is that
he likes going there so much.. and let him know that you
don't like it and just monitor the situation before doing
anything else that might make you sorry for doing it later.

Honestly, there could be several reasons why. One, he may not be satisfied with a certain aspect of the relationship. Two, and I can attest to this, he just may want to hang out with the guys once in a while. That isn't such a bad thing. Now, if he's going everyday from the time he gets off work and comes home at say 11:00 or later and runs $1,000 tabs constantly, then, you BOTH need to seek help to stay happy.

Men go to strip clubs to feel like a man. in this PC age we arent allowed to be men, crude, look at women, and feel like we are in control. the funny part is that we are not in control at a strip club, the dancer have all the control, they choice who the want to dance for, what they are willing to do, and how much it will cost. If you cross the lines, your gone. as for the $1,000 in manhattan, that isn't much, 2 guys and with 3 or 4 dances each, adds up fast.

Strip clubs to us guys is like window shopping to women with the exception our "window" shopping comes with an entry fee. We have to pay in order to be able to get in to look.
Naturally if we get a lap dance we have to pay around $20 on average and if we drink well they cost too. There are some clubs that have women that work there that do go above and beyond the call of duty so to speak so if your husband dropped $1,000 in one night at a club, the chances are he paid for the above and beyond duties.

How selfish! I'm a guy, but a little sharper than the rest of the pencils, I guess. Unless you guys are making 5 or 6 thousand dollars a week, that's an awful lot of money to spend at a club! As far as what he received for that 1000, what do you think? If he didn't, he's even dumber than he sounds!

Sometimes a man just needs to see another woman naked. Whether her gets any or not doesn't matter. It is just the desire to see a diff. naked female body. Now for the $1000.00, that is a **** load of money to spend at a club. There was either a group of guys,damn expensive drinks,and if they were done some DAMN expensive lap dances. Or it could be a combination of all three. Good luck to you.

Young lady I really don't think there's anything to worry about as long as home is being taken care of. You know my wife asks me if I want to go to strip clubs but that's all behind me now and I refuse. Really guys just need a release now and then from everyday life.

It's male bonding . On occassion there is touching by the strippers, but usually it's just a way for a guy to boost is ego in front of other guys. I never understood this, it just seems like a big waste of money
