I would say no. How old is your brother? Sounds to me like he sleeps too much during the day and that's why he's awake at night.

No this is not usual. What we found work well with our babies was to put them on a nursing schedule during the day that is regular and then at very early age they started to sleep more & more at night. A baby's brain is a little like a blank computer that needs to be programed. As parents we can set up a schedule that meets their needs and gets them into a rythmn. So when they start to wake up a night not to respond right away or overstimulate them.
All three of our children did very well with this and always slept well at night. We use to have a book on this but I am not sure what it is called any more. Sorry.

Thats hard to say. How old is he? Babies typically dont sleep through the night if they are really young, so its not out of the ordinary by any means. Staying up, however, means someone needs to be working on getting him back to sleep so he can learn how to sleep through the night at some point on his own.

If he's very young, yes especially if he's going through a growth spurt. Several times throughout the first year, babies go through growth spurts were they often don't eat enough during the day, and so are up for several hours at night. If he's older than 1 year than I would say it's not normal and his parent should speak to a pediatrician. Good luck.
