You recharge a deep cycle battery just as you would any other battery except that periodically a deep-cycle battery has to be run completely dead-otherwise it tends to develop a "memory" like many other types of batteries in laptops and cell phones and might not recharge fully.
Hence the term "deep-cycle." You can run 'em down to nothing left.and fuly recharge it. Any good battery tender that charges and maintains a charge (you leave it hooked up during the times you're not using the battery and it keeps it fully charged until you're ready to use it) will work.

invest in a good battery charger that is a 3 stage, 1st stage is bulk, second is absorption third is float. Deep cycle batteries should not be discharged more than 80%. Idealy, not exceeding 50% DOD or Depth of Discharge, recharging immediately will result in a long service life. A good multi-stage charger will not over charge your battery and will maintain a full charge without damage. Use distilled water only in your battery.

Your attempt will artwork see you later as you propose 'complete discharge' wisely. For a 12 volt battery totally discharged is round 11.7 volts. in case you discharge it previous that you'll do a tremendous number of damage to the cells. genuinely too a lot acid will be absorbed into the plates and they'll become volatile and degrade. Batteries determination in what number complete cycles they could carry out earlier beginning to degrade heavily although that's interior the thousands. often human beings spoil batteries faster by technique of overdischarging them or different abuse. i have stumbled on that the voltage of a very charged battery is a especially truthful indication of its complete amp hour means. you'll prefer to carry close what voltage and means it became new, then plug it into (modern-day voltage - 11.5) / (unique voltage - 11.5) X unique means. the end result will be an outstanding guesstimate of the present means.

hook the battery up and turn the charger on the low trickle charge setting, this is usually 2 amps ,let it charge all night , when you get back to it , turn on the 10 amp. setting and watch you meter slowly drop down to 0 or close to it.these battery is completely charged., ready for service! now when to recharge, when the battery is almost completely spent, remember any battery will only hold a charge or be usable for maybe 5 yrs. get a new one, and a $10 core charge.

Also you don't want to store a battery that is low. It will cause sulfur buildup and ruin the battery. It should be fully charged and either on a maintainace charger or charged every couple of months.

About 10 amps, don't charge it until it's allmost dead or it will pick up a memory, and then will only take about a half a charge and won't last as long
