I like oval. I also like heart-shaped, but that might be a little too girlie for some.

It's a personal preference. A lot of it depends on the type of girl. If she's more traditional, she might like oval. A round locket is a little more modern. If you put something sentimental and really great in it, that would really get her.

Oval would be more vintage-ish.
Round would be more modern.
I personally prefer round ..

I personally would want a round one, but that's just me. What other kind of jewelry does she tend to wear? You could also ask some of her friends what they think she wants.

hmm I'd only like a locket if it was vintage, and I'd say your local antique store or ebay would have that. Girls like tiffany&co. jewelry!
