it was released in february 1974 so it would have to've been filmed '73 but im not 100% sure

Yes. It was filmed in 1973, and was eligible and was nominated for several Oscars for the 1974 Academy Awards,(Best Supporting Actress-Madeline Kahn, Best Film Editing, Best Song ("Blazing Saddles") (which meant it had to be shown in Los Angeles before Dec. 31, 1973). But it probably would then have had general distribution in early 1974 country-wide.

The movie was released in 1974, so there's a very big chance it was filmed in 1973. Check my source for more details.

It came out in 74, so it was probably filmed from 73-74
