I downloaded directx 9.0 as instructed by the game I am trying to play. Now it says I need a tnl capable video card.

TNL (actually Hardware T&L) stands for Hardware Transform and Lighting.

Most recent video cards (not built into the motherboard!) will be T&L capable if they're not older than 4 years. I think built-in chipsets are capable of that too, if they're not older than 2 years.

If you have a new card (or computer) you might simply need to get the right driver for your video card, if you don't have it installed already.

transform and lighting. You must have a really old or generic brand video card. You need an nvidia or radeon card. Any mainstream brand card made in the last 4 years should support tnl.
