I am 31 and have 2 kids aged 2 and 5. If there was a channel dedicated to kids programmes from the 80's and 90's would the parents force the children to watch this channel?
Or is it more of Power Rangers and endless Scooby Doo?

I'm thinking of these:-
battle of the planets
jamie and magic torch
ulysees
dogtanian and muskerhounds
fraggle rock
racoons
please send this round to your mates and see how many we can remember.
How good will this channel be?

i think my son would watch the 'oldies' anyway! my mum bought a lot on video for my younger sister, and i 'inherited' them for my son! he is now ten and we would watch the videos together-great fun-chorlton and the wheelies, trapdoor-i love that and i cant find the tape! stoppit and tidyup, danger mouse, the magic roundabout, the re-runs of captain scarlet etc, the flumps, dog tanian and the three muskehounds, willo-the-wisp, goodness i could go one forever! far FAR better than spongebob-blinkin-squarepants! pants indeed!
goodness i remember G-force they were all humans dressed as bird characters with a ship called the phoenix?
yes i am 33 as well!
go here for some classic kids programmes http://www.toonhound.com/tvtoons.htm

Wow, the title brought back so many memories! I remember Chorlton and the Wheelies, and being frightened of a witch-type character. And Cities of Gold, I have a mental image of Inca-type cities and a young male main character?
What about G-Force? I think that's what it was called, a space-based cartoon with a character called "Keyop"? And what about that cartoon with 3 characters with special powers, the guy was strong, the girls fast and shape-changing? And SuperTed and Banana Man! And Captain Caveman (zowie!). And I used to love RentaGhost.
There are loads of things I'd watch for the memories - never mind the kids, I think lots of people around my age (33) would watch a channel like that. Hope someone in TV is paying attention...
Edit: The flumps - yes! And FingerMouse, You & Me, Watch...

I agree with you whole heartily on this...
If you have satellite, try watching 'Nick Jr' after 8pm.
They have recently been showing MR BEN, PIGEON STREET, RAINBOW, BUTTON MOON, KING ROLLO, THE CLANGERS, BAGPUSS, (the original) WOMBLES, etc...
DANGERMOUSE, INSPECTOR GADGET, and many more old favourites have appeared on 'Boomerang' too.
How can I make my 7 year-old son understand that these fab programmes were made when I was his age???
He thinks that they are brilliant, and wonders why cant he see more stuff like this.
I have just bought the complete collection of 'BOD', a collection of TRANSFORMERS videos (including the original film) and THUNDERCATS collection...
and I cant wait to watch it
In answer to the last part of your 'question'...
Power Rangers have not been the same since Kimberly left as the Pink Ranger, and Scooby-Doo will always be great.(or so I thought until I saw that they are showing a newer Japanese style version now)
p.s. I am a 37 year-old man, who loves watching any telly.
('Life on Mars' brings back so many happy memories)
E-BAY, and boot fairs seem to be the best places for videos of old tv shows.

Bagpuss
Dangermouse
The Herbs
Mary Mungo and Midge
Pipkins
Chigley
Trumpton
Camberwick Green
The Flumps
It would be brilliant! Children's programmes were much better then- nowadays it is all about noise! I think somechildren could learn a lot by sitting down quietly and watching Bagpuss!

Sounds like a fantastic idea!! But I bet the PC brigade would ban half the shows for being sexist/racist/elitist too violent, too scary etc etc.
Would like to see Hong Kong Phooee ("Quicker than the human eye!!") again or even Rentaghost.

I'd watch it, never mind the kids! We have to throw Knightmare in for good measure, though, and Duckula, and The Flumps, and at least a billion others.
I remember Chorlton and the Wheelies.
BAGPUSS!
