I have a 1993 Pontiac Transport van, and I can't get the gas thing off. On the side of my seat there is a lever to open up the gas latch (so that no one can syphon). However, everytime i pull the lever, it won't even move. Any suggestions as to how i can fix it as soon as possible without going to a mechanic? I looked at the manual, and it doesn't offer any suggestions. I just want to put some damn gas into it haha

Sounds like either the cable broke or came off. Now let me ask you a question! Has there been any body work done on the sliding door, in the inside; or has there been any interior work been done near the gas filler door? Is the sliding door on the same side as the gas cap? If yes to any of these questions, then the mechanic may have disconnected the linkage or cable and forgot to reinstall it. Or a flat headed screwdriver works fine too. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the cable is broken. Some vehicles have an auxiliary pull cable to open the filler door. This may be located inside the rear door of the van.

Try looking in the owners manual for information about this. If am aux cable exists, it would say in there.

Good luck

Sounds like the cable between the lever and gasoline door has become detached at one end or the other.

If you can lay your hands on a Chilton or Haynes service and repair manual vehicle, one or the other will show you how to repair it. They run for about $20 at an auto parts store.

Pry that s.o.b. open, I have the same van that had the same prob. The only issue is, after you pry it ipen it will never close properly again. but atleast you dont have to pull that lever anymore.

take it to a mechanic so you don't break anything it could very well be something simple but without being there its hard to say what it could be.
