I think that would be incredibly romantic. (If you wrote it, it would be best.) It shows she's not getting the same ol flowers, chocolate, cards that are dealt around. This shows you thought only about her, and I think it would be special.

It might have a good outcome. But seems a little risky and at a distance. It would be better to take her out and try a kiss or handholding and see how that goes. While it might seem better to let the postal service deliver your declaration of love - delivering that kind of information in person up close and personal is better. That way you can clear up any subtleties in the communication that might get misconstrued in a valentine. Once you've established a connection - of course - many valentines and whatever are in order.

I think its sweet to have a poem on V-day, lots of girls wait for something and never get any cards or roses or anything. As long is the poem is thoughtful (not cheesy) and comes from the heart...hey why not? It's Cute..

A poem is GREAT! It's personal and way better than something store bought. Go for it! If she doesn't like it.... it's her loss.
I'd LOVE to get an original poem for Valentine's Day.

It is one thing to give your girlfriend a poem, it could even work out with you have known for a while but giving one to a girl you hardy know... I aint so sure, I would say you would have to have a really good poem, none of that roses are red crap. Girls like cute and funny, write her a story that reads like “twas the night before christmas” but use your own words, make it about you trying to get a date with her. Ya know, Twas a Saturday evening I sat at my house, I thought about _____ and taking her out.... make ‘em laugh.

If you already know she does not like you in the same way, I would not waste my time giving her a poem. This may lead to a very embarrassing and painful moment for you. However, if you like her and are unsure of her feelings, then give her the poem. And it may work out OK. If she does like you she will be very happy. If she does not like you as you like her, she may embarrass you horribly. Good luck and God bless****

Depends on the girl. I once knew a guy who wrote me a poem a week for almost a year! (no lie!) and I still have them somewhere in a big box. I loved it, but some girls may think it's corny. If you know her personality, you should be able to figure this one out.

Well, I am married now, but when I was in high school a guy wrote me a poem and I loved it. We dated a while, then he went off to college out of state.

It really is a personal preference, I would prefer not to get a poem but many other girls think its cute or romantic. If you know shes into literature and poetry she'd probably like it but if she's more humorous I wouldn't count on it.

Most girls would love a gesture like that... it shows you care and you are romantic. If she gives a positive response, I would encourage you to keep it up. Girls like when you remain romantic. Don't just try to "get" the girl and then stop being cute.
When you sit down to write, just be honest and sincere... don't worry about cheezy tag lines... just pour out your heart the best you can.
Good luck my man! Sounds like a great start!
