I got papers early this year. It said I need to pay taxes I owed from 04. I had all my paper work and went to the IRS office. He sent them letters saying that I did infact pay 04's taxes. I also have a copy of said letters. Now I got a letter sayinig I still owe em from 04. I have gone through this this year alone 2 times. What should I do? This is the third time, they still want money. Should I just pay it so they stop? Also I have to pay child support are there any deductions or any thing i can claim as a single father?

Since this keeps happening and isn't getting finally resolved, contact the Taxpayer Advocate office at 1-877-777-4778, or file form 911.

Good luck. This has to be very frustrating for you. No, if they've admitted that you don't owe it, don't pay it - unless it's $20 or so, in which case it might be worth it just to end this circus.

Child support is not deductible. If you're a single father whose child lives with him more than half the year, then there's lots you can claim. If your child doesn't live with you or lives with you half the year or less, then you only can take the exemption if the mother signs a form allowing you to, assuming that the child lives with her.

tell them to send you what they have on record for you for that year, that way you can see your file as they see it,, then if you have proof that you paid staple it and mail it return reciept to them so they have to sign for it,highlight those areas that you want them to see,,
