The girl I use to date now lives in another country and since then the only girls I've attracted have been one's with boyfriends. It's five days to the big day and I want to spend it with someone nice.

If you want to spend some time with someone for fun or as friends, just go ahead and ask them. If you want more, don't expect it by or before Valentine's Day. There just isn't enough time to do more than lay some groundwork in a budding relationship (assuming you ask a girl out, she is interested, and you start today...lol). Personally? I think you should try to relax a bit. Seeming lonely or desperate is like instant chick repellant. Be comfortable in your own skin and be ok with being alone. You will be less clingy and less dependent upon a woman once you actually get one around you. Also, don't let the "big day" thing pressure you. There is nothing really more significant about having a relationship on Feb 14th than there is on October 17th. February 14th is the day that just happened to be picked, though. Keep that in mind. If you were ok with being alone a month ago, then you shouldn't be feeling extra pressure simply because a date on the callendar is coming up. Relax, have some fun, and try to enjoy it as you would any other day. If you want some fun companionship, then go for it!

Get together either with other single friends, or other friends in a relationship who HATE Valentines and go out and have lots of fun.
I have been doing this for years with a big group of friends. Sometimes we just all get together and have a nice meal and wine at someone's house. One year, we all went to Paris and booked a table at a really nice romantic restaurant. There were 8 of us and we enjoyed an evening of chat and drink, getting more and more rowdy. I hate to admit it, but I really enjoyed p*ssing off the sickly couples who were sitting gazing into eachother's eyes over the candles!
We're not all single - we just made a kind of pact that we would not be sucked into the hideousness fake "love"ness of Valentines Day. It's just an excuse for card companies and florists to double their prices, and people are made to feel guilty if they forget or ignore it.
Make a stand - find some likeminded mates, and go out and have a really good time, just like every other night of the year. Cos that's all it is. Just another day.

Sorry for your luck there bud. If you want to do something nice for someone special. Try going to a nursing home and talking to some of the residents. They would enjoy that so much. I use to work in a nursing home. Those people are always neglected by the outside world. It really put a huge smile on there face when they seen a little kid...or the grandkids come in. It just amazes me how they can be so excited over the simplest things in life when they have nothing to look forward to. It really changes your views and ways of thinking.

Don't sweat it. You'll only be lonely if you let the whole Valentine's thing get to you. There will be many many people who don't have love on Valentine's day and they will almost all live to see President's day unscathed.
You could probably do like I plan to and get drunk alone and play guitar before screaming yourself to sleep on the bathroom floor.

You don't need to spend Valentine's Day with a "love interest". Valentine's Day is about love. You can spend that day with your parents and/or family. These are the people who understand and love you the most.

I guarantee you that there are plenty of single gorgeous girls out there that would love to spend Valentine's day with someone - instead of alone. (Where do you live? =) ) Just keep an open eye, ask around and you'll find someone. It is single's awareness day so find someone.

Go to a home for the elderly with a bunch of roses and give them out to the ladies. I can guarantee you will not feel lonely.

Spend it with yourself. Aren't you special enough. It is just another day. Like you'll be any lonelier that day than any other.

You don't have to be lonely, their is something out there for you to do. If you can find anything, IM me and we can tell each other a few good lies. I don't have anything to do either.
