I also started off with pads and switched to tampons when I was older. You'll probably be more comfortable with pads until you become more used to having a period. But if you find pads uncomfortable or inconvenient, you could try tampons. You don't have to change them as often and you can't feel them. It's up to you- whatever suits you best.

Ok, first thing's first, talk to your mother or another adult figure that you feel comfortable with, or even your school nurse. If you don't have anyone to turn to/don't feel comfortable with, you can go to beinggirl.com, it's a great website that can help you out a lot. As for the issue of pads or tampons, I'd say go with pads because when I started my period at age 10, I was TERRIFIED to put some strange thing in me. I hope this helps somewhat.

Use a pad. Tampons are very hard to get used to when you are young, I started mine when I was 11 also, and I was fine with pads.

I would suggest a pad until you are older, but it's a personal preference. Perhaps you would be better off talking to your Mom or an older sister or something? Tampons always have and still do give me severe cramps.

I started mine when I was nine and my mom started me with pads because I was so young but when I got older around 16 I decided to try tampons and it made me cramp more, now this may not happen to everyone.
You know what , I think you should try them both, then see which one is more comfortable to you.
Good luck.

If you are comfortable, use a tampon. Tampons are less of a hassle. Pads can be uncomfortable and they can smell. Just remeber to always have an extra on hand.

you might consider asking your mom and your doc.

if she says that you are prone to infection then you should use pads. pads are always your best bet. if you use a tampon you cant leave it in there too long. with pads the only thing that will happen is that you might get a UTI( Urinary Tract Infection ) or itll leak into your pants (not pleasant for you or others, trust me.)

Hope i answered your question
best of luck to you
