Basically...I got a mass attack earlier...I went to a site someone sent me too...no reason to be alarmed...and bam, my firewall stopped 30+ port attacks, I did a spyware doctor scan and it found 200+ things, and one was a DNS something...which I know is really bad...and it said it had to do an emergancy restart. Which...never happened. It froze on the desktop. I restarted, nothing came up. I did again...still nothing. after the 4th restart, the desktop finally came up after about 5 minutes. Then, it was really really slow. Help said to press F8 to start in safe mode, which didnt do anything. It brought up a menu asking where I wanted to start, DVD drive, A drive, or hard drive. I need help!

This is how I do it on my Windows XP home edition:
Turn on your computer as soon as you first see the Blue Windows Start Up screen, push restart on your computer.
The next time Windows loads you will see a new screen with options. Select safe mode, enter and you will see a new start up procedure. Eventually your desktop will appear but will look different.
Now run your scans. If you can't get rid of your problem with whatever software you are using, try CounterSpy. You can get a free 15 day trial. It's about the most powerful anti-spyware there is.

you do not prefer to wipe out your HDD because it quite is slightly severe for going about this. once you've the set up CD or .exe information on your own computer then in basic terms boot into chance-free Mode a million. Reboot the pc 2. Press F8 at boot demonstrate 3. opt for chance-free Mode If not then obtain AVG and Spybot on your own computer and then keep on with the step above. once in chance-free mode you'd be able to position in the classes. Run a experiment and the viruses will be stopped.

You've got quite some complications there. WHen it asks you which drive you want to start up from, the computer means that you should insert your clean install disc that should've came with your computer. Pop the disc in the drive and choose the appropriate letter for the drive. You should be OK now, it's going to do a clean install after it asks you. don't go directly to the clean install. First backup your data.

If you could post some more info like your manufacturer that would be helpful.

If you have windows xp or any other windows then it is pretty easy. Just turn the computer and while its trying to start up/ load unplug it. Repeat about 3 times. Or as many times as nessecairy. After you do it how ever many times it will give the option of starting windows in safe mode or msdos or whatever. This screen will come up BEFORE windows has started.

Some computers use F5 to get into safe mode. If you can start the computer up in normal mode then go to start --- RUN --- MSCONFIG --- Click BOOT-- Check the Safe BOOT BOX-- apply and restart it will now restart in safe mode. You will need to uncheck this when you want to start normally.
