If all else fails (can't get bolt cutters, etc.), take a pair of scissors to your back pack, and your friend can have the honor of buying you a new one. Not-so-funny prank, eh?

get the # off the back of the lock or take it to a lock smith. All locks have a master combination listed in a book that a lock smith will own. The smith may require you to bring the lock to them though. I'd hate to think all I had to do was call someone to get the combo.

you could go crazy trying all the possible number combinations, but the safe bet is to show someone who owns a bolt cutter, and have them snip it off for you. fast, easy, and if the person wants their lock back (or the money for it) tell 'em "bite me!"

You could go to a locksmith, you could ask one of the maintenance people at school to cut it off, I'm sure they can, you could take your bag to a hardware store and see if they have a set of bolt cutters and maybe they would cut it off for you.

A pair of bolt cutters, any hardware store, or a hacksaw will do the job nicely.

cut the bookbag open with a steak knife; then tape it back when finished

go to the school janitor, they have to break locks all the time, they should be able to do it for you. If you aren't able to do that, just go to a hardware store, or even Home Depot, and ask an associate to help you cut the metal. I wouldnt try to cut it yourself.

Breaking it would be the fastest way, bolt cutters work the best.
