We try to be calm, however it just takes one dumb question to set us off.
Hmmm....

That's Soccer you idiot. Hockey fans are not violent. Were very passionate about the sport we love. If you bother to actually check it out you would see that at the end of a series or the finals the two teams shake hands. Unlike in basketball where the players just throw the balls at the winning team or just throw a fit. Also when is the last time you heard about some fans at a Hockey game who dam neared killed each other. Or when one of the fans shot a player in the head because they made the mistake of scoring the wrong goal.

You're kidding, right? You're serious?! Hahahahahahaha!!! Wow...that's insane that you even think that. Hockey fans are the greatest fans on earth. Everytime I go to a Leafs vs whatever rival game, there's ALWAYS heckling but in a good-natured way that everybody can shrug off as fun. Even when I go to Ottawa my Leafs hat, I get heckled with a smile, and I give some back with a smile. No harm, no foul, it's just a game and games are meant to be fun. Even when hockey fans are drinking, we're overly friendly. Good times!
I think the only time Canadian (notice that word) hockey fans will ever become violent is, hypothetically speaking, when all Canadian teams are moved south of the border. We will have a nationwide riot that will make the soccer riot in Italy (with one police officer dead, mind you) look like a day at the beach and regular soccer rioters blush. That'll be the ONLY way.
And to date, there's only one NHL riot back in the days of Maurice Richard. The NHL commissioner at the time, Clarence Campbell, suspended Richard (can't remember for what) and had the balls to show up the very next day in Montreal for a Habs game. Yeah, way back then.

Actually, hockey fans in Europe have rioted at important rivalry games in the past. But it really has nothing to do with hockey fans themselves, but more to do with European society. Ice hockey is not seen a s a tough guy sport in parts of Europe, whereas football (soccer) is. Therefore some hocjey fans in Europe try to replicate their soccer hooligan brothers, however in many countries ice hockey is seen more as an elitist sport rather than a blue collar sport like it used to be viewed in this country before Gary Bettman got involved. At any rate, I have provided a list of all known hockey related violence by fans in the US and Canada.

Why do you say that? Only hockey parents are violent, and they should face the full force of the courts when that happens. But, hockey parents are way behind say cheer leading parents and little miss sunshine parents in the states.
As for hockey fans. They are less violent than soccer fans and basketball fans. Even football and baseball fans throw harder stuff than hockey fans do.

Are you kidding me? Have you gone to a professional hockey game? There is nothing like going to a game and getting high on adrenline and then having a RETARDED call made by a stupid REFEREE that should be at home SUCKING HIS THUMB - and EVERYONE in the arena can see it was a BOGUS penalty against your team - Then to have the other team score a goal and (God forbid) actually win a game b/c of a LAME *** referee - That's why hockey fans are so violent

Last I checked hockey fans don't riot in the stands. Hockey fans aren't being kept out of the stands. That is SOCCER FANS. Hockey fans are PASSIONATE, not VIOLENT. They are very different. Yeah a hockey fan will get up and scream about a great goal or such but we aren't going to punch the guy next to us.

There have been instances of violence (Montreal after winning in 1993 and Vancouver after forcing gm 7 in 1994), but nothing comes to mind in the last decade. Certainly nothing comparable to what fans of other sports resort to.
Regardless, these episodes are the exception in hockey. The only proof of that you need is to consider the end of a 54 year Stanley Cup drought where the NY Rangers parade celebration attended by 1.5 Million fans resulted in fewer than 50 arrests.
Again...NEW YORK CITY...54 YEARS OF FRUSTRATION ENDING and only a handful of minor incidents.

Violent? Based on what?
Hockey fans are loud, mouthy, passionate, and very devoted. Fans have always been kind (despite the wisecracks) even when I was at an opposing arena in my team's jersey.

Interesting question. I attend NY Ranger games frequently; I have never seen this. An occasional drunken disagreement, maybe, but that's it. Then again, you have to consider the fact that this is Madison Square Garden; Garden Security is like the Secret Service: They appear very quickly, out of nowhere, handle the situation quickly and disappear. Crowds just don't get that way at Ranger games.

That's soccer fans that are so violent. You don't hear about 18,000 hockey fans fighting in the stands, like you hear about 40,000 soccer fans rioting because someone looked at them wrong.
