The United States Government refuses to talk to the Cuban Government; because they are governed by a communist. Yet, we do a majority of our business with and court the Chinese Government, the largest Communist Nation in the World; in addition, we are seeking talks with the North Korean government, the second largest Communist Nation in the World.

So, we "hate" Cuba because they are communists, but we "love" China in spite of the fact they are communists; and we think Venezuela is evil because they elected a Socialist.

This just doesn't make sense to me.

Simple - China is physically huge and has the largest population of any country. That means we can sell them stuff and exploit the population for cheap labor. Also we are little bit scared of them!
Cuba - small island, small population, no big cash, no big threat
China - big country experiencing an economic and technological boom will be a bigger world power than it already is - may be able to kick our *** in 50 years or less.

the reason the relations with Cuba are so bad is because Castro allied with the Russians during the cold war and allowed them to put nukes 90 miles off of our shores. But your correct it doesn't make sense since we even have better relations with Russia and Vietnam than we have with Cuba. The only result is we can't get good cigars.

we used to hate china too. But over the past few years China has changed. Politically they are still communist, but economically they are capitalist. Its all about money.
